Mourning in Brazil: The Mineiraozo
In Sports, it is ok to lose. Losing is part of the game. However, the
issue is that one has to compete. Yesterday, there was a German massacre at the Mineirao Stadium. The Germans destroyed the Brazilians
on their home turf. From the time, I have been watching World Cup football, I have never seen a German national team that does not
compete. The Germans will play and they will play until the last second game. On the other hand, I must also say, this is the worst
Brazilian national team I have seen as well.
The Germans Internationals humiliated the Brazilians Internationals. They outclassed them and one has to applaud them for showing some
dignity at the end of the games to the Brazilians. However, the Brazilian players failed to show some prestige and dignity to their
people. Losing is fine, but losing without a fight is unacceptable. Losing without defending the national colors of the nation with
pride is unacceptable. In the land of King Pele, Scolari and his players have embarrassed a country where football is like a religion
and a continent that is now hoping that Argentina and the Messi (ah) will be able to restore some pride for the American continent and
for those of us who live in the Americas. The score is Germany 7 vs Brazil 1. This is the score, this is not a typo. Julio Cesar had
to get the balls from the bottom of the Brazilian net 7 times. It could have been more. There is one thing I can write here is that
Brazil have joined my country Haiti who gave 5 goals in the first half to Poland in 1974. Haiti lost that game 7-0. But, Brazil are
not Haiti. Brazil is Brazil. Brazil is Brazil. I guess on July 8th 2004 Brazil became Haiti while they were being destroyed by the
Germans.
The beauty with football is that it will always give an opportunity for a team to redeem itself. However, I don’t think that will ever
happen for Brazil and I think one can understand why because beating a German national team by such a high score is nearly impossible.
To understand the power of German football one just needs to read the following information: In 1986 Germany lost in the Final against
the Argentina of Maradona; in 1990, The Germans won the World Cup against Argentina of Maradona. In 1994, they lost against Bulgaria of
Hristo Stoichov in the quarterfinals; in 1998, they lost in the quarterfinals against Croatia of Suker. In 2002 they lost in the World
Cup Final against Brazil. In 2006, they lost in the semi-finals against Italy. In 2010, they won 3rd place against Uruguay of Diego
Forlan. Now, I must say Germany is Germany. The statement that Brazil is Brazil must be erased from the brain of every journalist
until another coach can come up to resurrect Brazilian like the late Tele Santana did in 1982s. Now, I must start wondering or even
asking myself where are the New Zicos. Where are the new Rivelinos? Where are the new Socrates? Where are the New Kakas, Alemaos,
Falcaos, Eders, Juniors, Ronaldinhos, Ronaldos, RIvaldos, Bebetos, Romarios, Carecas, Josimars, Roberto Carlos, Dungars, where are
they? Where are the new stars of Brazil in the land of Edson Arantes DoNascimento (Pele). Can someone please let me know where are the
new generation of Brazilians are to bring back the Jogo Bonito back where it belong. One must be tired of seeing this type of Brazilian
football. Please bring me back the 1982 Brazilian football. Please bring me back the 1982 Brazilian who played the game like no other
teams.
Despite being an Argentina’s fan since 1978, I’ve always appreciated the Brazilians. It was fun as a young boy in Haiti to compete
against my friends who called themselves, Zico, Socrates, Eder, Rivelino, Junior, Falcao, Alemao, etc. For me, I was Jorge Luis
Burruchaga. It was fun; I know many of my Haitian friends are wondering what had just happen to their Brazil. It was indeed painful…
painful indeed to watch to see Brazil being humiliated in the game biggest stage, the FIFA World Cup.
Furthermore, I think this is a lesson for the Brazilian politicians who seem to associate the game with Politics. Please get politics
out of the game so the young generation can start enjoying Brazilian football like it used to be. Politicians will corrupt everything
since the main objective for a politician will always be the bottom line. Please get back to us the Brazilian football I used to see in
78, 82, 86. Please bring it back and no more of Scolaris who seemed to destroy the flair of Brazilian football.
Brazil will be back. Brazil will be back. However for the games to get back, let’s get those players who are playing in the country to
restore pride in Brazilian football. Those I have seen played yesterday don’t have what it takes to defend their Nation with pride and
dignity. Soon, they will be back on European soil and forget how much pain they inflicted on the Brazilian people.
Now the weight of a whole continent is on Argentina…and we all now have to wait what will happen. No more predictions for me,
please…No more predictions from me, please… Let the games play on the field.
Bravo to the Germans! I have always respected them. They have always played with great pride to defend their country. As a young boy in
Haiti, every Saturday morning, I was always looking forward to watch the Bundesliga, I will never forget, Karl Heinz Rummenigge; I will
never forget Paul Breitner; I will never forget Pierre Littbarski; I will never forget Bernd Foerster; I will never forget Felix
Magath; I will never forget, Lothar Mathaus, etc. For sure, I will never forget them because every German National Team has
represented them well and all the German players have been consistent at the extreme highest football. It is not about being
supporting Argentina or Brazil, it is about recognize the greatness of the opposition. For sure, Germany is an example to follow
in world Football. Congratulations to Germany!
