Day 10 - The Ant and the Cicada
By Gabriel Cazotto
Klose is not one of those geniuses gunners who won the World Cup with
spectacular goals, a star player, or even won any major titles. Ronaldo and Gerd Müller, who possess 15 and 14 goals in World Cup history
respectively, are about 10 times better than Miroslav (and I'm being a friend of Klose with this comparison).
Klose is very poor technically, but he overcomes that with efficiency, Klose is a pure striker, in the meaning
of the word, who plays as pivot and invariably makes a lot of goals. He will never be in an all-time German team, well they had for
example Gerd Müller, Uwe Seeler, Jürgen Klinsmann, Rudi Völler, and these were geniuses.
But Klose is a phenomenon too. Why? No one who becomes the highest scorer in the World Cup history can appear
as a nobody. Miroslav Klose, with all its faults shows everybody that much will and training can overcome a lack of technique. That
sweat himself in the field is as important as being born with a gift. Klose is an ant, a worker.
In the most exciting game of the World Cup, Germany and Ghana tied at 2-2, but that game was marked by Miroslav
Klose who become the highest scorer in World Cups in Brazil, alongside Brazilian Ronaldo; who had achieved before in the land of Klose,
Germany in 2006. Want more curiosities? Both the 15th goal of Klose and the 15th goal of Ronaldo were scored against Ghana.
If Klose was the ant that achieved glory by his working rate, the other protagonist of the day is a true playmaker
a Cicada, those born with the gift, that training is necessary, but not crucial, this is genius, coming from 100 to 100 years, Lionel
Messi, or the Messiah. Only he could break the Persian Wall in the last minute. The Argentina forward solved the problem when nobody
had the answer to break the amazing wall created by Queiroz. I summarize this equal game that Iran made to Argentina like this: if Messi
was called Alireza Messi and has being born in Tehran, Iran would have won the game.
At night Bosnia bade farewell to its first World Cup. The thrill of seeing a country that was rebuilt in less
than 20 years of a hard war to compete as equals on the main stage of the World Cup itself is the amazing thing about the squad. Nigeria,
with a goal from Odemwingie becomes the second African to win this Cup, breaking the curse that came since 1998 against Bulgaria and has
everything to make the round of sixteen against France, but is still far from the football team that crowned them African champion last
year.
