The provincial office
Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan is the center of politics, culture, and economics of Hokkaido.
It had grown into a large scaled project city by 1871 with Hokkaido development and
became a provincial office in 1986. The central area of Hokkaido before World War II was
Otaru and Hakodate. Subordinate agencies of the offices of the central government and
branch offices of large enterprises moved in and raised the power of the finance economy.
Food industries of beer and dairy products and also printing, publication and electronic
products are active.
It is the first dome stadium to possess a grass conversion systema
(artificial grass used in baseball stadium is switched with the mobile grass field made outside
the dome stadium to be converted into a soccer stadium). The stadium supports events like
soccer, baseball, concerts, assemblies and more (able to change either into a soccer or
baseball stadium within 5 hours).
