Yokohama is a bustling city with a population of more than 3 million people, making it Japan's second largest city after metropolitan Tokyo. Yokohama's modern history dates from 1859, when the port was opened to the international community. In the more than 130 years since then, Yokohama has continued to serve as an important gateway between Japan and world, while also playing a central role in Japan's modernization and internationalization. Yokohama is also taking on a more prominent role internationally. Last year saw two major conferences - The 10th International Conference on AIDS, and The World Conference on Natural Disaster Reduction - held in this city. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the citizens of Yokohama themselves, who are noted for their openness and progressiveness. Their vitality enhances this city's unique personality, making Yokohama an appealing place to live and work. Yokohama is continually working toward a better future and has set its sights firmly on the twenty-first century by pushing ahead with urban development. Yokohama's comprehensive urban plan seeks to integrate various sectors of the community, including local and international business. Yokohama is an ideal business location with well built infrastructure, as well as abundant greenery and an attractive living environment. The city also boasts administrative facilities befitting a major center in addition to the superb integration of research, service, and high-tech sectors. This provides an ideal environment for the effective execution of business activities and research development.

This is Japan's largest stadium. It has a 9x19m display screen. It features an air driven automatic mobile camera (high speed device of 100m per 7 seconds) and has a Sports Science Center establishment.
